Happy Post NaNoWriMo everyone! First of all, a couple of announcements.
Cotton’s Corner is going through some design changes, so don’t be surprised if things look a little different. However, I promise that the content will stay in the same place so you can easily access my terrible jokes and puns, but hopefully useful advice.
Secondly, I’ll be posting some post-NaNoWriMo stories later this month, but to quell any suspense: I won! It was my first attempt and I’ve never written anything longer than a creative essay before, so I’m happy.
At the start of the series of NaNoWriMo posts in October, I said that Halloween was one of my favorite holidays. But, the truth is that I love the entire October-December season. I didn’t always when I was younger or in high school, but this time of the year has become more special since I married my husband back in 2011. Now, I enjoy starting my own traditions or continuing the ones my mother started- especially those involving food.
This year I saw a post on Lovely Whatsoevers about a Christmas Blog Party and felt up to the challenge! Who doesn’t love a good Christmas party? To participate or learn more, click here.
Questions: Week One
How do you know it’s officially Christmas season?
I try to enjoy Thanksgiving and the rest of November to the fullest. My family and I watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade and Christmas starts just as soon as Santa closes out the parade. The day after, or weekend, I put up the Christmas tree, our decorations, turn on the music, and look forward to all the movies. Since moving to Minnesota from Alabama, I’ve looked forward to the soft snow that falls initially in the season.

Favorite Christmas carol?
Do you wear any holiday headwear (Santa hat, elf ears…)?
I never could find a Santa hat that fit my head, but I would if I found one.
What kind of wrapping paper are you using this year?
The kind with dancing cacti and happy tacos.
Are you sending out Christmas cards?
I’ve been sending out Christmas cards every year shortly after I got married. My family doesn’t see me as much anymore because of the distance, so I think cards and photos are a good way to bridge the gap around the holidays the best I can. The theme changes every year and may or may not include cats.
When is it appropriate to listen to Christmas music?
Everyone has a different answer and time, but it’s after Thanksgiving for me. I just like keeping my holidays separate!
