Welcome to Week 3 of the Christmas Blog Party! Is everyone ready for Christmas on Sunday? I may or may not still have presents to wrap, and some more non-Christmas-type posts before the end of the year. It’s been a nice break after the craziness and rush that was NaNoWriM0. And I have yet to post a wrap-up!
Just a few announcements before the last post of the Christmas Blog Party. Cotton’s Corner now has it’s own Facebook page! Like the page and receive updates every week from the blog.
Not on Facebook or don’t want me all up in your feed? How about once a month in your inbox? The Cotton’s Corner Newsletter is launching! Sign up for the newsletter at the bottom of the page and I will send you a recap email every month regarding new posts and other announcements.
I’m working on a few other projects at the end of the year, so like the blog on Facebook or sign up to the newsletter to stay up-to-date.
Lastly, the About page is finally finished! There’s a little bit about me and various ways to contact me to either hang out or discuss books/movies/life in general.
Ok, onto the party!
When do you decorate for the holidays?
The day after Christmas or soon thereafter. The first few years I moved to Minnesota, I tried to cart a real tree home in my tiny car with no rack on the top. So many pine needles in the trunk.
Is there a Christmas special you always watch?
We always watch A Charlie Brown Christmas, and listen to the soundtrack. I didn’t learn until a few years ago that Charles Schlutz, the creator of Peanuts, was from St. Paul.
Opening presents: Christmas Eve or Christmas Day?
In my family now, we open all the presents on Christmas Day as well as open stocking stuffers. Growing up in my mom’s house, we opened our present from her on Christmas Eve and Santa’s presents the next day. We never had stocking stuffers, but we did have stockings.
Actually, we didn’t open the presents because they were never wrapped! Santa arranged our gifts like a display in each section of the living room so each kid had their own space for marveling at their loot.
Have you ever been caroling?
Yes, I have! I was a member of the Girl Scouts and some other community groups that would go around and carol to the nursing home. I haven’t done anything like that since high school though.
When do you decorate the tree?
Like above, we decorate the tree the day after Christmas. I’ve collected so many different ornaments from different people and occasions, but every year I pick out a new one for the tree. I even have ornaments that my dad made by needlepoint before I was born.
If you have pets, do you get gifts for them?
Yep. But, it’s usually cat treats or scratch furniture. They used the scratching posts so much this year that they were falling apart so I took advantage of some Christmas sales.
